Nāda yoga

Nāda yoga

Nāda yoga (नादयोग) is the Yoga of sound. It focuses on the premise that all human beings consist of sound vibrations. The human heartbeat is particularly attuned to sound and vibration. The heart rate responds to musical variables such as frequency, tempo, and volume and tends to speed up or slow down to match the rhythm of a sound. Following the natural cycle of the breath and syncing the physical practice of yoga with the specific frequencies, we experience less tension and stress, calming of the mind, and self healing.

Nimisha created Hum Yoga as a reflection of her knowledge, experiences and training in various movement vocabularies, in relation to sound.  Hum Yoga combines all the knowledge and experience Nimisha has gained from India about traditional Yoga & dance, with the knowledge of sound and its impact on the human consciousness.

Her classes are based on Krishnamacharya and Vinyasa styles of Yoga, accompanied by live music that has been structured to create sounds and vibrations associated with the energy centers within the body, called Chakras

“Yoga is a therapeutic form of practicing self-love and well-being. The equal emphasis on correct anatomical alignment of the body, & positive sound vibrations, with the cycle of our natural breath, is what makes Yoga a self healing practice.
Together, we reconnect with our inner selves, creating a safe space of acceptance, healing & love”  − Hum Yoga
